Fixed The “Changed Password” Bug

General

Up until a few minutes ago, there was a bug in LiveJournal-to-Google Reader which you may have come accross if you’d ever changed your LiveJournal password: after changing your password, you’ll have completely lost access to your proxied feeds. This isn’t good.

What was supposed to happen is that you’d log in on the LiveJournal-to-Google Reader site using your username and your new LiveJournal password and that’d automatically fix everything. What would actually happen, though, is that this wouldn’t fix anything, and you’d have to send me a message to prod your account into working again.

But now it should be fixed! Thanks to orlycadan for finally giving me the push I needed to pull my finger out and implement the fix (and it was only the tiniest little code fix ever). You should now be able to change your LiveJournal password, then re-login on the LiveJournal-to-Google Reader site, and carry on picking up your friends-only posts in your Google Reader (or other blog reader) account. Hooray!

LiveJournal-to-Google Reader v2.0

General

Version 2.0 of LiveJournal-to-Google Reader (used to be called LiveJournal Feed Fetcher) is now available at lj.abnib.co.uk. Features include:

  • Read LiveJournal friends-only posts in your Google Reader account.
  • New! Read LiveJournal community friends-only posts in your Google Reader account.
  • New! Now able to subscribe to the feeds of the people who have “friended” you, without “friending” them.
  • Improved! Prettier theme so the site doesn’t look like it was made in 1994.
  • New! If you’ve misconfigured a feed or the URL changes, you should now get a friendlier error message (rather than no error message, as was previously the case).
  • New! One-line “footer” gets appended to the posts you pick up, letting you know that they came from LiveJournal-to-Google Reader.
  • Also works with other newsreaders, if Google Reader isn’t your thing.

If you use Google Reader and your friends have LiveJournal accounts and make friends-only posts, you need LiveJournal-to-Google Reader.
